Caln Township, the Coatesville School District and six other municipalities have begun a regional Economic Study which will evaluate the existing assets and constraints that affect economic development opportunities in the Western Chester County Region as well as existing and potential sites for development and redevelopment opportunities based on criteria such as zoning, site constraints, and infrastructure availability.
It will evaluate how we can broaden the regional tax base where appropriate, while protecting the quality of life of the region's residents. Final products will include strategies for business site development, marketing techniques, business retention and recruitment strategies as well an implementation and action program for the municipalities and other organizations.

Caln is serving as the lead municipality concerning the administration of grants which have been secured to pay for 95% of the study costs. Municipalities involved are West Brandywine, Caln, Valley and West Caln Townships, South Coatesville and Modena Boroughs and the City of Coatesville
